INAUGURATION CEREMONY FOR FIBA WOMEN’S ASIA CUP HELD IN BENGALURU
- The inauguration ceremony for the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2017 took place today at the Ritz – Carlton, Bengaluru, presided by the Governor of Karnataka, Vanjubhai Rudabhai Vala.
- K Govindaraj, President of the BFI, stressed the importance of the Cup, which is returning to India after an eight year hiatus, having last been hosted in Chennai back in 2009.
- Mr Hagop Khajirian, FIBA Regional Director – Asia, expressed optimism about the future of basketball in India, and the impact that this Cup will have on the sport.
- This officially tips off the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup, which will be played from 23rd to 29th July 2017 at the Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru.
Bengaluru, 22nd July 2017: The inauguration ceremony for the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2017 took place today at the Ritz – Carlton, Bengaluru, presided by the Governor of Karnataka, Vanjubhai Rudabhai Vala.
K Govindaraj, President of the Basketball Federation of India, stressed the importance of the Cup: “The best of Asian talent from 15 nations is in Bengaluru for the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2017, which is the first senior level international tournament to be hosted in Karnataka. In fact, this Championship comes back to India for only the second time, after Chennai hosted it way back in 2009.”
Mr Hagop Khajirian, the FIBA Regional Director – Asia, also expressed optimism about the future of basketball in India: “Fans in India will witness first-hand the likes of Asami Yoshida, Marianna Tolo, Kim Danbi, Jillian Harmon, Shao Ting and many more. We have a strong belief and hope that hosting the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2017 will be a step forward towards increasing the popularity of the game in this sports frenzied nation.”
Other invited dignitaries Sri KJ George (Hon’ble Minister for Bangalore Development and Town Planning and Bengaluru District in-charge Minister) and Sri N A Haris (Hon’ble MLA, Shantinagar Constituency). The event was hosted by Smt G Padmavathi, Mayor of Bengaluru.
The inauguration ceremony was also witnessed traditional dance performances that showcased the cultural heritage and diversity of India.
This officially tips off the Cup, which will be played from 23rd to 29th July 2017 at the Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru.
BOOKINGS INDIA HEALTH MONITOR LAUNCH
Mr CK Mishra Secretary MoHFW was the chief Guest to launch the The Brooking India Health Monitor which brings together real time data, research and powerful analytics of India’s healthcare sector on a common platform. To grace the occasion delegates from hospitals, research institutions, media and officials of the Ministry health, science and Niti Ayog,were present. Chief Guest CK Mishra Secretary Health declared the launch of the site after his selective worded speech on Data and Monitors a not a homogeneous subject but well beginning by institution of repute like Brooking India shall lend an easy task in assessing and formulation of policy, welfare health programmers.
This is created using publicly available data from across all states and Union Territories of India. It enables researchers and policy makers to access, monitor and analyse real time health measures at a highly dis-aggregated level.
This Health Monitor is the brainchild of Dr. Shamika Ravi (Senior Fellow, Brookings India), Dr. Mudit Kapoor (Indian Statistical Institute) and a team of research and administrative collaborators from across the country. The detailed methodology outlining variables and computation is explained here. The portal also provides latest research in healthcare from Brookings India and Brookings Institution that is of relevance to India. This is an evolving platform and we welcome you to join the effort.

• एआईकेएससीसी के संयोजक वी एम सिंह ने की ‘किसान मुक्ति यात्रा’ के अगले चरण की घोषणा, देश भर में चार और यात्राएँ।
• आत्महत्या कर चुके महाराष्ट्र के किसानों के बच्चों की पीड़ा ने दिल्ली के लोगों को झकझोरा।
• अलग-अलग दलों के कई सांसद किसान मुक्ति संसद में आए, किसानों की माँग को दिया समर्थन।
• राजू शेट्टी ने किसान के मुद्दे को लोक सभा में उठाया, स्पीकर द्वारा नहीं बोलने देने पर किया वॉकाउट।
राजधानी दिल्ली के जंतर मंतर पर किसान मुक्ति संसद आज दूसरे दिन भी जारी रहा। आत्महत्या कर चुके महाराष्ट्र के किसानों के बच्चों ने अपनी पीड़ा को एक नाटक के ज़रिए सबके सामने रखा। इस नाटक में उन लोगों ने दिखाया कि एक किसान की आत्महत्या के बाद उसके परिवार पर क्या गुज़रती है। बच्चों के इस प्रदर्शन ने दिल्ली के लोगों को झकझोर कर रख दिया।
उत्तरप्रदेश के आलू किसानों ने भी आलू के गिरते दाम के ख़िलाफ़ किसान मुक्ति संसद में अपना विरोध प्रदर्शन किया। उत्तर प्रदेश से आलू किसानों के नेता आमिर ने कहा – “सरकार चाहती है कि हम अपनी फ़सल कोल्ड स्टॉरिज में रखें। लेकिन सच्चाई ये है कि हमारी फसल का जो दाम हमें मिल रहा है वो कोल्ड स्टॉरिज में रखने के ख़र्च से भी काफ़ी कम है।
तमिलनाडु से आयी एक किसान की पत्नी रानी, जिसके पति को बैंक अधिकारियों ने इतना अपमानित किया कि उसने आत्महत्या कर ली, ने बताया – “बैंक के अधिकारियों ने मेरे पति से पूछा कि तुम बैंक का लोन नहीं चुका पा रहे हो तो अपनी पत्नी के कपड़े कैसे ख़रीद रहे हो। क्यूँ हमेशा ग़रीब को ही अपमानित होना पड़ता है? और, उन अमीर लोगों का क्या जो करोड़ों रुपये लेकर देश से भाग जाते हैं?”
किसान मुक्ति संसद को सम्बोधित करते हुए तमिलनाडु के किसानों के नेता ऐय्यकन्नु ने कहा – “तमिलनाडु के किसान सूखा जैसी स्थिति होने के कारण मर रहे हैं और हमारे विधायक किसानों के मुद्दों पर काम करने की बजाए अपनी सैलरी बढ़ाने की माँग लिए बैठे हैं।”
आज उन किसानों के बच्चे भी जंतर मंतर पर जमा हुए जिन्होंने आत्महत्या कर ली थी, उन बच्चों ने अपनी वेदना एक लघु नाटक के माद्ध्यम से बयान की। एक बच्चा अशोक पाटिल ने अपनी व्यथा प्रकट करते हुए कहा कि बहुत सारे नेता हमारे घर हमसे मिलने आये और हमसे बहुत सारे वादे करके गए, लेकिन हमें मिला क्या? सिर्फ अगले दिन के अखबार में नेताओं के साथ छपा एक फोटो। वो हमें मदद करने आये थे या सेल्फी लेने आये थे?”
मध्य प्रदेश के भूतपूर्व मुख्यमंत्री दिग्विजय सिंह भी किसान मुक्ति संसद में आये। वो भी किसानों की इन दो माँगों से सहमत थे कि किसानो को ऋणमुक्त किया जाए तथा उनकी आय को बढ़ाया जाए। उन्होंने कहा कि यह समय अपनी पार्टी तथा राजनीति से ऊपर उठकर हमें किसानों के साथ न्याय के इस संघर्ष में साथ होना चाहिए।
महाराष्ट्र से आये विधायक हर्ष वर्धन सहाय ने भी किसानों के इस संघर्ष में साथ होने का दम भरा।
किसान नेता एवं सांसद राजू शेट्टी ने आज लोकसभा में किसानों के मुद्दे को उठाया तथा प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी से सवाल किया कि आपका स्वामीनाथन कमीशन के सुझाओं को लागू करने का वादा झूठा था क्या ? लोकसभा अध्यक्ष ने इनके माइक को बंद करवा दिया जिसके विरोध में राजू शेट्टी ने संसद से वाक आउट किया। राजू शेट्टी ने कहा – “मैं उस हाउस में मूक दर्शक बनकर नहीं रह सकता जहाँ किसानों की आवाज को दबाया जा रहा हो।”

AIKSCC के संयोजक V M सिंह ने किसान मुक्ति यात्रा के अगले चरण की घोषणा करते हुए कहा – “हमलोग यहीं नहीं रुकने वाले हैं, हमलोग पूरे देश के किसानो को संगठित करेंगे। हमलोग चार और यात्रा निकालेंगे जो कि हरियाणा, पंजाब, उत्तर प्रदेश, उत्तराखंड तथा बिहार में होगी। यह यात्रा 2 अक्टूबर को फिर दिल्ली पहुंचेगी और सरकार ने हमारी बात नहीं मानी तो हमलोग पूरे देश में अनिश्चितकालीन अनशन करेंगे।”
स्वराज इंडिया के अध्यक्ष श्री योगेन्द्र यादव ने कहा – “यह आन्दोलन किसान आंदोलनों के इतिहास में एक मील का पत्थर साबित होगा। इस आँदोलन ने अलग अलग दल और विचारधारा के देश भर के किसान संगठनों के नेताओं को एक किया है। साथ ही, आज किसानों की युवा पीढ़ी भले ही किसानी छोड़ने पर मजबूर हो रही है, लेकिन वो किसानों की वेदना को भूली नहीं है। अब किसान निर्णायक संघर्ष करेगा।”

Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh again misled the country by making a completely false statement by claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had never promised to offer a minimum support price to farmers but had instead promised to give a profit of 50% profit to farmers on the production cost. Not only is this a completely false statement but the minister also did not clarify how the farmers can gain a profit of 50% without having an MSP in place.

All India Management Association (AIMA) has been spearheading its efforts to enhance the competitiveness of MSMEs through Entrepreneurial capacity building programmes and has been conducting MSME Conventions to address these issues and more. These Conventions have been held previously in Delhi, Chennai, Guwahati and Ahmedabad and have helped MSMEs to come together, appreciate their place and role in the national economy, and formulate an agenda for progress.
Now, the 7th AIMA-MSME Convention is scheduled to be held on 27-28th July, 2017 at the India Habitat Centre, in New Delhi, will focus on the theme – “The Fourth Industrial Revolution: Challenges & Opportunities for SMEs”. While the 3rd Industrial Revolution, rooted in Information Technology and data synthesis, radically changed industries globally, the 4th Industrial Revolution is taking it a step further, bringing the digital and physical world together and accelerating change. Described as the immeasurable influx of new innovations-from the higher form of artificial intelligence, cost efficient 3D printing , autonomous vehicles, nanotechnology, advances in medical science-the 4th Industrial Revolution brings together these disruptive elements. These disruptive technological elements will impact enterprises beyond manufacturing and systems . MSME’s in particular stand to face new challenges and emerging opportunities in the new disruptive global economic order.
